Die Nachwuchsgruppe “Mechanismen der Genomkontrolle” am Deutschen Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Heidelberg sucht eine Technische Assistenz (m/w/d) zur Verstärkung des Teams. Wir sind ein freundliches und motiviertes Labor mit deutschen und internationalen Forscher:innen, die daran arbeiten, die Rolle von Enhancern und 3D-Genomstrukturen bei der Genaktivierung während der Karzinogenese zu verstehen. Wir setzen modernste Techniken ein, die gentechnische, genomische und molekularbiologische Methoden umfassen. Unser Labor ist sehr neu und kollaborativ, so dass Sie die Möglichkeit haben, unmittelbar zur Entwicklung der Forschungsstruktur und -prozesse beizutragen. Sie haben außerdem die Möglichkeit, die neuesten Methoden in der Genomforschung aus erster Hand zu erlernen und mit Ihrer Arbeit direkt zu spannenden Forschungsprojekten beizutragen.

A position as a laboratory technician (TA) is available at the Mechanisms of Genome Control laboratory at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. We are a friendly and motivated laboratory with German and international researchers working to understand the role of enhancers and 3D genome structure in gene activation during carcinogenesis. We are using cutting-edge techniques comprising genetic engineering, genomic and molecular biology methods. Our lab is new and highly collaborative, so that the successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to the development of our research environment and processes. The candidate will further be able to learn cutting-edge techniques first-hand and directly contribute to exciting new projects.
Job description:
Der Aufgabenbereich umfasst Labormanagement (Bestellungen, Organisation von Laborräumen), Zellkultur, Unterstützung bei verschiedenen molekularbiologischen Methoden (z. B. Herstellung allgemeiner Reagenzien und Puffer), sowie künftig das Einlernen neuer Kolleg:innen. Sie werden eng mit anderen Labormitgliedern zusammenarbeiten und verschiedene Aufgaben erlernen.
The candidate’s tasks will comprise lab management (ordering of reagents and supplies, organization of lab space), cell culture, support in various molecular biology techniques and training of new laboratory members in the future when needed. The candidate will work together with other members of the laboratory and will be trained in the various tasks.
Requirements:
- Abgeschlossene Ausbildung als Biologielaborant:in oder ähnliche Qualifikation
- Motiviert, verantwortungsbewusst und organisiert
- Erfahrungen im Labormanagement oder Interesse es zu erlernen
- Erfahrungen mit Zellkultur und Standardmethoden in der Molekularbiologie
- Erfahrung in der Schulung neuer Labormitglieder in Standardmethoden ist von Vorteil
- Fließende Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse
- Gute Kommunikations- und Dokumentationsfähigkeiten
- Have completed training as a biology laboratory assistant or similar
- Be motivated, responsible and organized
- Experience in laboratory management or interest in learning it
- Experience with cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques
- Experience with training new lab members on general laboratory techniques is of advantage
- Have a fair knowledge of English and German
- Have good communication skills and ability to document work
