The Division of Mechanisms Regulating Gene Expression is currently looking for a motivated and experienced lab manager and research technician to join our interdisciplinary project studying the function of RNA modifications in cancer development, metastasis and therapy resistance.
Job description:
You will be part of an exciting and stimulating research environment, working closely with a team of researchers, clinicians and computational analysts. You will carry out a range of organisational duties and research activities, and closely interact with collaborating teams at the DKFZ, the Universities of Heidelberg and Cambridge (UK). We utilize a wide array of biochemical, cellular, computational approaches and in vivo model systems. This post is an excellent opportunity to master numerous cutting-edge experimental techniques, while supporting a dynamic research group. There will also be opportunities for mentoring more junior colleagues, including supervision of trainee technicians and rotation students.
Requirements:
- Education as technical assistant (MTA, BTA) or laboratory assistant
- Strong background in working with transgenic mouse models
- Experience in using genome-wide approaches will be strongly valued
- Fluent in English and German and good written and oral communication skills
- Ability and enthusiasm to independently learn, perform and teach new protocols
- Ability to keep good up-to-date records and write standard operating procedures
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- 3+ years of experimental work experience in a research laboratory are highly recommended

Earliest Possible Start Date: The start date is flexible, but can be as early as May 2023.
Duration: The position is initially limited to 1 year.
