We are seeking a research technician for a position in the field of cutting-edge method development for cancer research. The position will be shared in frame of a collaboration among the following groups:

The Division of Translational Pediatric Sarcoma Research conducts intensive research into the development of sarcomas, with the long-term goal of developing new treatment options for affected children.

The Division of Regulatory Genomics and Cancer Evolution investigates the influence of genetic information on the DNA regulation of the cell and thus on the development of the cancer genome.

The Division of Computational Genomics and Systems Genetics investigates mechanisms by which genetic factors and environmental influences affect molecular phenotypes in tissues and in individual cells in order to decipher relationships between genomic variation and phenotypes.

The position will be mainly supervised by the Division of Translational Pediatric Sarcoma Research (headed by Prof. Dr. Dr. Thomas Grünewald).

 

Job description:

  • Basic histological techniques, embedding of different tissues, preparation of tissue sections (paraffin and cryomaterial)
  • Performing and establishing conventional, immunofluorescent and immunohistochemical stainings
  • Application of state-of-the-art spatial molecular biological methods for the transcriptomic characterization of tissue samples
  • Independent operation of modern laboratory equipment
  • Involvement in the continuous development of applied modern technologies

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed training as a TA, BTLA, MTA or comparable qualification
  • Strong interest in wet-lab work
  • Good communication skills in German and English
  • Team player
  • High motivation to learn and develop new, cutting-edge technologies
  • Previous experience in the field of tumor biology and histological techniques is desirable
