In collaboration with the German Cancer Aid, the German Cancer Research Center has launched the National Cancer Prevention Centre (NCPC). The NCPC is at the forefront of research in machine learning and information processing, with the specific goal of enhancing cancer patient care.
Operating in the highly dynamic and exciting intersection of AI and medical research, we are seeking a motivated computer scientist or software engineer to join our team in a full-time position.

You will be part of an interdisciplinary and vibrant research team that develops a wide range of state-of-the-art methodologies and software components. This project offers the opportunity to engage in computing and software engineering while working with cutting-edge machine learning and cloud technologies.

 

Job description:

  • Join the design and software development team and work on the integration of risk prediction models for personalized cancer prevention
  • Communicate within an interdisciplinary team including domain experts 
  • Enable content generation through development of suitable digital prevention tools at the NCPC
  • Bring the developments into our cloud platform for large-scale application
  • Publications and presentation of the project results

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in informatics or a related scientific discipline (e.g. computer science, mathematics, physics or statistics)
  • Strong analytical and software development skills are essential
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages (e.g. C++ and Python) is essential
  • Experience with machine learning and associated software stacks is beneficial
  • Experience with high-performance computing environments and cloud technologies is beneficial
  • Reliability, attention to detail, communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary international team will be expected
