“Research for a life without cancer" is our mission at the German Cancer Research Center. We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors and look for new cancer prevention strategies. We develop new methods with which tumors can be diagnosed more precisely and cancer patients can be treated more successfully. Every contribution counts – whether in research, administration or infrastructure. This is what makes our daily work so meaningful and exciting.
The Division of Systems Biology of Signal Transduction is seeking for the next possible date a
In close cooperation with our mathematical modelling partners and the clinical partners, we are developing cutting edge mass spectrometry approaches for clinical proteomics and combine data science with dynamic pathway modeling. The key areas of medical interest are processes determining the prevention and development of cancer in the lung and the liver.
To complement our dynamic team, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in cancer proteomics.
Your Tasks
- Develop and optimize targeted and phosphoproteomics workflows to analyze signal transduction pathways in clinical plasma and tissue samples.
- Establish high-throughput, standardized mass spectrometry-based methods for large-scale clinical sample analysis and biomarker discovery.
- Integrate mechanistic mathematical modeling with proteomics data to uncover biologically relevant insights in cancer research.
- Analyze complex mass spectrometry datasets using advanced computational and statistical approaches, collaborating closely with clinicians, bioinformaticians, and computational biologists.
- Publish research in high-impact journals, present at conferences, contribute to grant applications, and mentor PhD students and junior researchers.
Your Profile
- PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, or a related field
- Strong expertise in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including targeted proteomics and phosphoproteomics
- Experience in quantitative data analysis and statistical methods for high-throughput omics datasets
- Familiarity with mechanistic mathematical modeling and computational tools for systems biology is of advantage
- Strong publication record in relevant peer-reviewed journals and excellent interdisciplinary communication skills and proficiency in English
