The Proteomics Core Facility supports researchers at the DKFZ by providing cutting-edge proteomics services using latest generation mass spectrometry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the facility's operations and will drive its further development, particularly through the implementation and adaptation of new and advanced proteomic workflows.

 

YOUR TASKS

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Proteomics Core Facility, including task prioritization and organization, and the supervision of facility staff
  • Implement novel techniques and experimental approaches to enhance the quality, efficiency, and range of analytical workflows
  • Advise users from diverse scientific backgrounds on experimental design, method development, and data interpretation
  • Oversee and support staff in maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting LC-MS/MS systems
  • Proactively collaborate with mass spectrometry and proteomics groups on and off campus to exchange expertise and advance the facility´s method portfolio
  • Manage the facility’s budget and contribute to strategic planning
  • Provide guidance and support for the training and professional development of facility personnel

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related analytical science discipline
  • Extensive experience in proteomics, either in a core facility environment or through academic/industrial research
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative protein analysis using advanced LC-MS/MS techniques, including analysis of post-translational modifications
  • Familiarity with software tools for proteomics data analysis and data management
  • A background in working with clinically relevant samples (e.g. FFPE, Plasma, CSF, etc.) and/or advanced workflows (e.g. spatial proteomics) is a plus
  • Strong service orientation and ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment
  • Proven ability to lead and support technical staff in LC-MS/MS system maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience in managing core facilities or in conducting research collaboratively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a broad scientific community
  • Willingness to contribute to grant proposals and to represent the facility at scientific meetings and conferences
