The research group "Signaling and Functional Genomics", headed by Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, is interested in systematically analyzing developmental-oncogenic signaling pathways using a combination of experimental and computational approaches. Within this project, we aim to identify novel synthetic lethal factors that are potential targets for cancer therapy.  

 

Job description:

As part of our team, we are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with an interest in interdisciplinary genomic research. The postdoctoral project will advance and apply technologies to identify synthetic lethal interactions using high-throughput cell-based CRISPR and chemico-genetic screens. The project builds on previous approaches in the lab  (Laufer et al. 2013; Breinig et al., 2015; Scheeder et al., 2018; Heigwer et al., 2018; Henkel et al., 2020) to identify genetic interactions using multiplexed imaging and pooled assays. We expect that this project will advance new experimental methods and will provide insights into synthetic lethal interactions that will be further studied using multi-omics and in-depth mechanistic analyses. The project will be part of a collaboration with GSK/Cellzome.

 

Requirements:

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow who has experience in cell biology and high-throughput genomic technologies. The candidate should have an academic degree (PhD or MD/PhD) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or a related field and have previously published in peer-reviewed journal. Expertise in the design and execution of CRISPR/Cas screening experiments and experience in the analysis of genomic experiments would be an advantage (e.g. R/Bioconductor skills). The candidate should be able to work independently and should have excellent team working skills. The position further requires excellent organizational capacities, the ability to communicate effectively and to build and maintain strong relationships with collaborators in academia and industry. An excellent written and oral command of English is essential.

Duration: The position is limited to 2 years with the possibility of prolongation.
