The National Center of Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg is a joint institution of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the Heidelberg University Hospital and the German Cancer Aid. The NCT with sites in Heidelberg and Dresden is the leading oncological center in Germany and shall be expanded to an international center of excellence regarding point-of-care and individualised cancer medicine.

The Precision Sarcoma Research group at the German Cancer Research Center and the National Center for Tumor Diseases Heidelberg (Head: Dr. Priya Chudasama) is looking for a qualified and motivated research assistant with an expertise in immunological methods to work on a multi-center collaborative project (DKFZ, NCT Heidelberg and HI-TRON Mainz) focusing on personalized immunotherapeutics.

 

Job description:

The successful candidate will be involved in establishment and execution of experiments involving characterization of patient material (e.g., blood, tumor) as well as relevant cell line models with different molecular biological and immunological methods. The methods and general responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Molecular biology methods (sample preparation, cloning, sequencing, mutagenesis, PCR)
  • Cell culture methods (culture of cell lines, production of lentiviruses, transduction of cell lines, different assays for characterization of tumor cell lines)
  • Flow cytometry and sorting and other immunological methods (T cell functionality, peptide binding assay)
  • Protein detection (western blotting, immunoprecipitation)
  • General laboratory work (preparation of solutions, ordering of reagents)
  • Coordination of the project, comprehensive documentation and presentation of results

 

Requirements:

  • Trained as technical assistant or with a Master of Science or equivalent degree
  • Extensive experience with cell culture and immunological methods listed above
  • Experience with processing blood samples and human primary cell cultures
  • Ability to work in a team, high level of motivation, flexibility, reliability
  • Competence in MS Office and other equivalent applications, good communication skills
  • Very good command of written and spoken English
