The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.
The Junior Research Group "Tumorigenesis and Molecular Cancer Prevention" studies the early stages of gastric and oesophageal cancer development. We use single-cell sequencing technologies to investigate the relationship between healthy and diseased tissues. We work closely with our network of international and local collaborators and in our interdisciplinary studies we use clinical samples and clinically relevant disease models (organoids), and we develop clinically applicable technologies for early detection of precancerous stages of gastric and oesophageal cancers.
Job description:
As a technical assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate sample preparation, data processing and results dissemination. The work includes diverse implementation of single-cell assays (single-cell RNA sequencing, single- cell DNA sequencing) and bulk DNA and RNA analysis assays. In this role, you will further help with the development and maintenance of organoid cultures. You will plan experiments in close collaboration with other members of the lab and our local and international collaborators. Data analysis using MS Office, Prism, and R is expected. Requirements:
Our group is searching for a highly motivated and flexible team player with organizational talent and high sense of responsibility and excellent communication skills who can comfortably work in a diverse international environment. Training as a technical assistant (TA, BTA, MTA, CTA) or equivalent degree is expected. Experience involving planning, implementing, and analysing experiments is expected. Experience working with single-cell or next-generation sequencing library preparation approaches is desirable but not essential. Very good written and spoken English and German knowledge and confidence to use English and German in the work environment are required. Proficiency in MS Office applications and IT skills are expected.
